Check on Eligibility for Benefits PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Children in Your Home Could be Eligible for Benefits

Remember the old adage, "You never know till you ask"? Well, it couldn't be more true. Over 56, 000 relatives in Virginia are raising the children of their relatives and don't even know about resources available to help cover some of those costs. Same could be true of foster and adoptive parents...so, check out the Virginia Uniform Benefits Assessment Tool, today! Thanks, VDSS, for this simplified way to get a preliminary benefits screening completed.

And, if you have custody of a relative's child and the form tells you that you are NOT eligible for TANF, please call your local department and ask to speak to a Benefits Coordinator, anyway. There is stil a possibility the child could be eligible under the program entitled...TANF, child only.

NEVER, ever give up! You are the lifeline for the children in your home. We're glad you are there!
