Family Advocacy for Collaboration, Empowerment, and Support

Adoptive Families

Adoption is a lifelong process for providing a permanent loving and safe home to a child in need. As part of this process, it is critical for adoptive families to have access to pre- and post-placement support that strengthens their families, and enables them to handle the challenges of adoptive parenting. Many adoptive families face a daunting variety of physical and emotional special needs. Finding resources and support to help them overcome those challenges and special needs can be frustrating.

FACES of Virginia Families strives to offer support, resources and information to adoptive families. We want to hear about your challenges as well as your successes in providing for the care of your children. We want to support you in advocating for your adoptive children and developing collaborative initiatives with partnering organizations to improve outcomes for children. We want to provide adoptive families with a voice as well as an ear.

As FACES grows, we will promote and support permanent families through continuous education and training, as well as advocacy efforts that improve the public and private agencies serving these families. We want to ensure that your voice is heard, that your input is valued, and your concerns are addressed. We want to help you do a better job and help you to be recognized and respected for the role you play in serving Virginia’s children. We value you as an adoptive family and want to welcome you to our circle of support.
